We’ve introduced a step-by-step onboarding checklist designed to help new and old users get fully set up without stress.

Easier Student Creation – No More Email Roadblocks
For a long time, one major issue kept coming up:
“I can’t onboard my students because they don’t all have real emails.”
We heard you, and we fixed it.
You can now import students even when their emails are unverified or school-generated.
Whether it’s adeleketunde@schoolname.com or another custom domain, you no longer need to stress about validation errors stopping your onboarding flow.
Just tick the Allow Import with Unverified Emails box and continue.
Invalid or unreachable emails will still be flagged neatly in your summary, but they will not block your progress.

A New, Cleaner Notification View – Your Shelf21 Inbox
Your notification center now feels like your own built-in Gmail inside Shelf21, clean, organised, and impossible to miss.
Every alert, message, update, and system prompt now sits neatly in one place at the top-right corner of your dashboard. No more scattered messages. No more confusion. You open it, and everything you need is right there, waiting for you.
And here’s the part you’ll love:
If you create students using unverified emails, Shelf21 will send the verification link directly to your notification center so you don’t lose anything. Even if the email doesn’t exist or can’t receive messages, you’ll still see the verification request on your Shelf21 “inbox.”
This means:
- You never miss important system alerts
- Students with temporary or placeholder emails can still be onboarded
- You have a clear, reliable way to verify accounts without depending on an external inbox
It’s smoother, cleaner, more reliable and it puts you fully in control.
